It gives me great pleasure to introduce this website of East Khasi Hills District Police, brought out by the officers and men of East Khasi Hills District Police, I hope you will enjoy exploring our contributions.
Shillong today is an exciting city with a growing, vibrant population. From a public safety perspective, this is a great time to live here. Crime continues to remain relatively under control. This has been solely due to the faith people have in the Police-Public relationship which is ever stronger. It is clear that a solid community partnership is the most effective way of making the place safer for all of us. Our Police Personnel are a dedicated, well-trained and enthusiastic group of professionals who take pride in their work. They are ready to work with you to make your home, your workplace, and this District an even better place to live.
As Superintendent of Police of this District, I am committed to creating innovative approaches for delivering the best of services. We will strive to use technology in our crime fighting strategy. We will utilize social media, Police-Public Awareness programmes, frequent meetings with Citizen Committees et al to stay connected to those whom we serve. In essence, we will be open to new ways of doing business in order that we serve better.
For safety of our women and Children, a 24x7 functioning Women Police station and Juvenile Unit is set up in Shillong City which is at their service. Among other efforts, Awareness programmes to students and youth at schools and colleges, deployment of City Patrols, pickets and patrols to cover vulnerable areas and regular interaction with Non Governmental Organisation and Community Based Organisation are few of the continuing efforts made by the District Police.
To the young generation, my sincere appeal is not to take to drugs and alcohol which will only lead one to the road of crime and destruction. Various Programmes on this theme has been conducted under the ‘Safe-Secure-Shillong’ project at different schools, colleges and localities in the entire districts.
On the law and order front, the performance of the District Police has been commendable. Notwithstanding a large number of agitations and bandh called government business went on as usual and other events managed peacefully. This is because of the right appreciation of the situation, meticulous planning and proper execution of work. The hard work of police personnel on duty, day in and day out has brought this a reality.
I am thankful to the National Informatics Centre(NIC), Shillong for allowing us a space in the internet to communicate with the outer world in a new way. I am also thankful to the SCRB, Police HQr., for due approval to launch this site. Last but not the least my deepest appreciation to the personnel of DCRB, East Khasi Hills, Shillong for their sincere efforts in designing and making the website a sure success.
